Our studios are collaboratively run by experienced musculoskeletal Physiotherapists, passionate about using exercise to rehabilitate injuries and re-establish optimum functioning of the musculoskeletal system.
The physiotherapy profession has adopted Pilates’ principles and blended them with their own rehabilitative knowledge to form a more specialised form of Physiotherapist-led exercise. Based on a foundation of mindful movement, also known as “controlology”, these sessions offer a form of exercise suitable for all ages and abilities, injuries, chronic conditions and general health and well-being.
As quoted by Joseph Pilates himself (the founder of the Pilates Method): “Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit”.
Our luxe, fully-airconditioned Pilates studios are completely equipped with reformers, trapeze tables, a Wunder chair, balls, bands, pilates circles and weights. Our physiotherapist-run exercise classes are provided by trained physiotherapists and include individualised programs. These classes are normally claimable under Private Health Rebates for “Physiotherapy”. The exercise programs are designed by a physiotherapist following a thorough assessment and real-time ultrasound testing. Our Body Tone and Matwork classes are conducted by Pilates instructors and are developed with the physiotherapists to provide safe, effective, fun and challenging exercises to improve general health and wellbeing.
At Q Pilates, we're focused on the well-being of every person who steps through our clinic doors. This includes the health and safety of our local communities, which includes you, our patients, as well as our team members.
“Men don’t do Pilates; it’s only for women”
A man named Joseph Pilates designed Pilates. He was a German man living in Britain during World War 1. He designed a program originally called Contrology which was a program made to focus on core control, balance, strength, stamina and overall mind-body control. He designed this program for both men and women, so this is most definitely a myth.
What is balance?
Balance refers to the ability to maintain your line of gravity within your base of support (BOS). It can also be described as the ability to maintain equilibrium. Balance is affected by three senses: sight, touch and sound.
